Dawa means “medicine” in Swahili. Dawa Lifestyle was born out of a desire to have more mindfully-made clothing choices in East Africa and around the world.
The founder of Dawa Lifestyle, Jessie, was searching for a creative outlet after moving to Kenya and wanted to do something that was good for the Earth and helped elevate the vibration of those around her. After living in places like Myanmar and Pakistan, Jessie had seen the extractive ways that clothing was made, from the farming practices for fabrics to the way that garment producers were treated, and felt even on a small scale, she could do better. Out of that came Dawa Lifestyle.
The clothes you wear sit on your skin which is the the biggest organ of your body. When your skin is met with ethically made and organic fibers, it soaks in those vibrations. This is what inspired Dawa Lifestyle.
By supporting Dawa Lifestyle, you are making a healthier choice by putting clean and high vibrational materials on your body, while supporting small holder famers and weavers in Tanzania, tailors in Kenya, and the movement to make clothing production more transparent, ethical, and sustainable.
